Character Design Class - Create 3 Characters based on 3 basic shapes

As proposed by my beloved lecturer, I;ve created 3 simple characters based on 3 basic shapes; circles, squares and triangles.
- On the top left is a character based on a circle, thus the whole fat figure to emphasize it while giving him a donut, a food in circle.
- On the top right is a cubisized Spider-Man posing for his web slinging action
- The last one at the middle bottom is a masculine bravo penguin which I created for the triangle shape, which can be seen on his torso and head.

Character Design Class - Week One Exercise - Caricature [Character Design Class]

Process:-
1. Take several pictures of a person from three angles
2. Use the picture, draw a rough outline on a new layer
3. Draw a smoother outline on a new layer. using the first layer as a guide
4. Add details; hair, shirts and the bag on the front piece and facial marks.
5. Finalize with cleaning rough edges

Knowledge gained:-
1. Learn what caricature is [though I know the style I just don't know what it was called]
2. Being able to learn how to make a caricature
3. Still needs to explore the app I'm using alot more. So many different brushes. [Corel's Painter Essentials 5]
4. Getting a better grip at using the Wacom.

Photo Study

A Photo Study done when I first got my hands on the tablet. It was done with only one type of brush [Wet Oily Blender].
Throughout the process, I learned how to translate the initial awkwardness of drawing on a tablet since you're not even looking at the tablet, you're looking at the screen so it's a little off-putting.
I also learned how to do the colour blending.
